Join Me for “Public Settings Private Conversations” and “Odyssey ll”

I am so grateful to the Museum of the San Fernando Valley for giving me this retrospective entitled “PUBLIC SETTINGS Private Conversations . . .”. My works have always centered on people in places of communal exchange around LA County.  These works created between 1998 and 2017  highlight the diversity of the people of the  San Fernando Valley as seen in various settings.  Paintings of  Barbershops, my neighborhood, Cal State University Northridge, Malls and Cafes will be on view.   These are the places I chose to sketch at, fascinated by the people and the conversations.

I am a Los Angeles native. Really! Born in DTLA! My works lead the viewer into a dialogue about the connections and differences between people in contemporary times. The rich cultural diversity inspires me to look at the sometimes momentary but intense relationships experienced by people passing through or living in the urban environment. I am a metro queen, riding the rails and using my countless sketches and photographs for painterly portraits of people and creatures in an urban milieu.
